Pummeling, primitive fuzzed-out garage-punk-rockabilly-thrash madness! Reverend Beat-Man's gravel-throated voice is scary and gives you goose bumps. Together with the thrashy drums, raw 60s rock 'n' roll guitars and dark bluesy bass, The Monsters deliver a horny, raw sound that is so crude it drives you mental. The Monsters ruin every party. Their music is the last track that's being played at a house party… that track that gets everyone go totally ape and gets them howling like wolves, hitting the ceiling, thrashing, crushing and destroying the place until the cops show up. Ty Segall creates a simple, straightforward noisy sound that is so f*cking charming it makes the perfect soundtrack for late summer evenings, but only those with a dark undertone. Ty Segall filters 60s garage pop through a wind tunnel of distortion and fuzz. Melodies are short and framed by twitching blasts of guitar. But in exchange for any loss of complexity, the band offers crazy energy and intensity. Whether pounding out blues-damaged rockabilly of or whistling through the darkness of shivery garage pop, Ty Segall is 100 percent on, all the time.

KID CONGO AND THE PINK MONKEY BIRDS(us)
Kid Congo Powers is a guitarist beyond mortal categorization for playing with The Gun Club, The Cramps and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. But then, what to say about the music? Save some fuzz tone crashes, it’s not much like The Cramps or The Gun Club, nor The Bad Seeds. This is small venue stuff, the kind of raw and raucous psychedelic garage rock for the in-crowd, that’ll immediately recognize this is a band to take into account. Kiki Solis’ bass is the foreground instrument, plucking out Motown rhythms, as the guitar splatters eerie and distant post-punkish textures. Post-punk, but there are also rowdy early 70s funk dance rhythms in there. Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds leap between genres and styles, but never without bringing it together with a warm, gritty, rasping lo-fi fuzz tone.
